Mega Industries’ rectangular waveguide flanges are custom designed to optimize alignment. We design Thru and Socket Flanges in a variety of waveguide sizes. Gaskets are provided in accordance with EIA and Military Specifications.
Our most commonly used material for rectangular flanges is in 6061-T6 aluminum plate. Available for prototype fabrication or field installation. Mega pre-machines flanges to EIA dimensions. We also allow a minimum of 1/8″ for facing after welding.
Special bolt hole patterns, double flanges, 4:1 aspect ratios, grooves, and alignment pins can be readily supplied.

Bulkhead Flange
Bulkhead flanges help systems designers develop safe and rugged systems that deliver the power when it is needed most. They come with a standard interface that allows joined sections to pass through an opening and then hold the run in place via mounting locations.
Contact Flange
Contact flanges are used when high power and low VSWR are required. The flanges are machined with a raised inner edge that guarantees a reliable connection of the surfaces. The design also uses a raised outer edge to limit the flexing of the flange to a preset force value. The center area of the flange is an undercut area that prevents any distortions around the bolt holes from creating uneven forces or engagement of the electrical surfaces.
Flange Connection Instructions
- Begin by applying hand pressure only.
- Apply minimal torque to take up any openings between the flanges.
- Take the torque to 1/2 the recommended level.
- Apply the full rated torque to the flange bolts.
- Repeating the tightening sequence at the full torque to verify.
