Our waveguide calibration kits utilize three impedance standards and one transmission standard. This assists to fully impact a two port calibration. Our precision cal kits are compatible with Vector Network Analyzer systems.

TRL Calibration Kit
The Thru Reflect Line (TRL) two port calibration kit utilizes 3 standards to define the calibrated reference plane. Precision waveguide to coaxial transitions are used in conjunction with a “flush” short circuit plate. A precision λ/4 waveguide section is designed to provide a balanced phase response over the operating frequency range.

SOLT & SSL Style Calibration Kit
Normally, we use the standard of Short, Open, Load and Through connection. This is otherwise known as a “SOLT” Calibration Kit.
Calibration kits utilize Offset Short-Circuit sections. The length of the offsets are set as λ/8 and 3λ/8 long. This design provides a balanced phase response over the operating frequency range.
We supply precision sliding loads to provide optimum performance over the complete waveguide band. Since flanges mate together, a special through connection is not required. This results in the Short Short Load (SSL) Style Waveguide Calibration Kit.
For extreme accuracy, Mega provides precision Coaxial to Waveguide Transitions. Coax transitions typically display a VSWR of better than 1.15:1 over the complete waveguide band. This provides for better accuracy when measuring low insertion loss devices.

Our complete line of high power products are typically offered in sizes WR28 to WR2300. Custom manufacture is offered through WR5900.
Cal kits are typically manufactured from 6061-T6 aluminum alloy. Copper and aluminum alloys are available for WR90 to WR650. Flanges and gaskets are provided in accordance with EIA and Military Specs.
Our cal kits are manufactured to precise tolerances calculated to yield maximum power handling. Mega Industries’ goal is to provide optimum VSWR to our clients.
Our complete line of precision waveguide kits used for accurate calibration of Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) systems. These kits include components to perform full two-port Through-Reflect-Line (TRL) and Short-Short-Load-Through (SSLT) calibrations. All components are made to greater precision than the relevant waveguide standards require for flatness, finish and form tolerances.
Key Component Review
Unlike Coaxial kits, where a “calibrated short” and “calibrated open” are readily achievable, waveguide calibration kits utilize precision, offset Short-Circuit sections to represent these two parameters. The length of the offsets, which are set as ⅛λ and ⅜λ (lambda) long, are designed to provide a balanced phase response over the waveguide operating frequency range.
A precision straight, ¼λ long, through section is provided for two port calibrations. The length of the straight section is designed to provide a balanced phase response over the waveguide operating frequency range.
Unlike other manufacturers, Mega provides our kits with a precision waveguide sliding load to provide optimum performance over the complete waveguide band. Utilizing the capabilities of the sliding load allows the user to create a better match improving the accuracy of the calibration.
In addition, Mega provides precision Coaxial to Waveguide Transitions, which typically display a VSWR of better than 1.15:1 VSWR over the complete waveguide band and better than 1.10:1 VSWR over more than 80% of this band. These precision transitions provide extreme accuracy when measuring low insertion loss devices.
Applications
This kit can be used for traditional style calibrations where three impedance standards and one transmission standard are used to create a full two port calibration. The offset short circuits of ⅛λ and ⅜λ represent the calibrated open and calibrated short circuit conditions. Two port calibrations can be achieved using the two precision waveguide to coax transitions in conjunction with the flush shorting plate and precision ¼λ waveguide section to provide a balanced response over the waveguide band.
